Found Wanting
Lyrics, recording & studio notes

The second track on my debut EP, ‘Tethered to Expectation’. Streaming links here.
Recorded the main vocal, acoustic and rhythm track for this in a handful of live takes on the 2nd October at Long Row Audio in Treforest.
If I could raise him from the dead and stoke his interest, I would try and convince Jacques Brel to cover it. Pretty sure the spirit of his song ‘Amsterdam’ informed the second verse. By that, I mean I wanted it to sound like a dark & smoky room packed full of existential doubt.
Found Wanting
What’s the vague smile that draws across your face?
What’s the old desire that dominates your mind?
What’s the road you sent yourself blindly down but can’t seem to retrace?
We find ourselves wanting
We blow these lives just waiting
Frozen at the crossroads hoping
You’ll come and take me by the hand
And show me the right way
But I see all the people run
And wonder if I should even play
Though it’s in the distance I know that there’s a place where I should head
The comforts claw at my back, with pleasures I’m in no rush to shed
They will squawk and squawk, a siren sound that draws me back to bed
We find ourselves wanting
We blow these lives just waiting
Frozen at the crossroads hoping
You’ll come and take me by the hand
And show me the right way
But I see all the people run and wonder if I should even play
Is this a decision to lean in to love?
Is this a decision to lean in to love?
Is this the decision to lean in to love?
